John Dibella

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) Champion For 2012!

The PCA 2012 Champion: John Dibella

We keep coming back to it, but one of the greatest aspects of the game of poker is the fact that anyone can beat anyone on any given day. When the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) dropped its anchor off the coast of the Bahamas, John Dibella was not a name that would have been on anyone’s lips. But at the end of the six-day main event, John Dibella, made sure that the poker media would eyeball him a lot more in the future after taking down the event for a staggering $1,775,000.

The PCA 2012 Champion - John Dibella

Not only did Dibella overcome 1,072 of the greatest poker players in the world, he also did it the hard way! Heading into the final table, the 43-year old stocks trader from New York had a below average stack and a terrible seat draw - but neither could stop the amateur poker player taking down the title.

Prior to Dibella’s fantastic PCA success his largest cash to date came in 2008 where he took 60th place in this same event for $16,000. Maybe Dibella likes to play his poker in beautiful surroundings? What makes this win even more amazing is the fact that Dibella won his $10,000 seat whilst playing in a $1,000 live satellite.

It was a great final table with former PokerStars Team Pro Ruben Visser following up on his deep run at this years WSOP Main Event where he finished in 44th place, starting the final table fourth in chips. The 2011 EPT San Remo 3rd place finisher, Xuan Liu, started in third place in chips - Visser finally finishing in 8th spot for $156,400 whilst Liu finished in fourth spot for $600,000.
